My studio is based in Swift's Hollow Cromford, Derbyshire. The Old Lock Up Gallery is next door, where some of the workshops will be run from. We are creating a beautiful place for people to enjoy being creative, learning new skills to take away and have a retreat experience. Nearby are lovely places to stay and eat. Less than an hour away from Nottingham and Sheffield, it's a thriving little place with interesting businesses, a rambling bookshop, interesting hardware store crammed with unusual items, an excellent antique homeware shop, deli butchers, Cromford art gallery that sells gifts also, and a bespoke furniture maker, plus of course everything at the mill. If you enjoy travelling by train you arrive in a storybook like, tiny, old railway station with hourly trains from Derby.
There are hills surrounding us and amazing walks just seconds from the studio and gallery doors. Woodlands, flower meadows, streams with tiny waterfalls, fields and cliff top views for the adventurous ones. At the heart of the village is the mirror glass like Mill Pond. Once you visit here you won't want to leave.
Maggie's workshops have been very helpful to me in gaining more skills in printmaking, I feel more confident to print now which I love doing! Also getting to look round her lovely studio and being taught by one of the friendliest people! Thank you Rebecca Pearey
